Just sit down comfortably, close your eyes, and start observing the breath in your nostrils. In and out, in and out. Breathe naturally. Thoughts will come, but do not follow then. Just notice they're there and focus all your attention to the breath. Observe. Breath is like a boat you need to cross to the other side of river, side without thoughts and mental activities. To go there, you need a boat or a bridge - that's your breath. It happens naturally, you don't need to try or make an effort, you just breath. Easy, soft, natural breath.
You should meditate every day according to your age. How many years, so many minutes. At least :) You can do it early in the morning or before the sleep (never mind if you fell asleep during your evening meditation, it's great :)
